What Color Ajah Would You Choose in the Wheel of Time Series?

Choosing the right Ajah in the Wheel of Time series, a vast and intricate world of magic and politics, is a deeply personal decision. Each Ajah represents a distinct focus and approach to the use of magic and the world around them. For some, the choice is clear, but for others, it is a blend of different Ajahs that best suits their character and goals. Let's explore the character types associated with each Ajah and find which one resonates most with you.

The Brown Ajah: A Scholar in a World of Books

Character Type: Scholar

Brown Ajah merrily immerses themselves in the vast and endless world of books. They find comfort and happiness in a library, where the boundaries between the real world and the world of texts become blurred. As a Brown Ajah, the struggles of the world are less of an issue, as long as they are surrounded by knowledge and the possibility of new insights. Their primary focus is on the world of ideas, theories, and personal development through endless reading and contemplation.

Lock me in a library and I’ll be happy. I don’t really need to involve myself with the struggles of the world. Just books and more books and the world is a good place.

The Yellow Ajah: A Scholar with a Diverse Approach

Character Type: Scholar with a Diverse Approach

The Yellow Ajah aligns with a blend of Brown, Blue, and Green Ajah characteristics. As a scholar who teaches undergraduates, their life is a dynamic mix of research and education. They find solace in living within their own world of ideas but recognize that it can become unhealthy. The Yellow Ajah values a combination of intellectual pursuits and humanitarian principles, seeking to blend the quest for truth with the desire to help others.

My life is more of a combination of Brown, Blue, and Green Ajah, with a touch of Yellow. I am a scholar of sorts who teaches undergraduates. Research is something I simply do. It is easy for me to live in my own world of ideas. I’m known as absent-minded as I find my thoughts more interesting than the tree in front of me. I get the appeal of the Brown Ajah but it would eventually feel unhealthy to me as I realize my tendency to live in my head has harmed my personal serenity.

The Blue Ajah: Guardians of Righteousness

Character Type: Champions of Justice

The Blue Ajah embodies the principles of justice, fairness, and right conduct. They are driven by a sense of duty to protect the weak and challenge the powerful. However, the Blue Ajah can also be manipulative and overly controlling. They often see their version of right as the only truth, which can lead to conflict with others who have different perspectives. While the Blue Ajah's values are commendable, their approach can sometimes be counterproductive as they navigate complex political landscapes.

The Blue Ajah appeal to me as they stand for what’s right. They pursue justice. They want to accommodate those who suffer from the abuse of power. I feel the same way. However, those who stand for justice have a bad habit of making decisions for others. Since they stand for righteousness, they tend to believe their version of what’s right is the only truth. They are manipulative. They veer into politics and worldly power. Honestly, I am not good with such things.

The Green Ajah: Defenders and Healers

Character Type: Warriors and Healers

The Green Ajah represent a balance between strength and healing. They are often seen as the most open-minded Ajahs, embracing both the spiritual and physical aspects of magic. Green Ajahs value emotional and physical well-being, and they are fierce defenders of their beliefs. However, they are also known for their combat skills and a lack of adherence to strict celibacy, viewing it as a personal choice rather than a mandate. Despite their capabilities, the Green Ajah's focus on combat can be detrimental to sensitive individuals due to the pressure they face to fight.

The Green Ajah are bad-asses. I admire their fighting abilities. I also see them as the most open-minded of all the Ajahs. They don’t hate men. They see good in them. They don’t embrace celibacy which to me should be an individual choice not forced by specific Aes Sedai Ajahs. I would be a terrible soldier. I would either get myself killed or accidentally kill someone else. I don’t want to kill anyone. I am too nervous to handle battle. The Green Ajah would eventually cost me my essence through the pressure to fight. I am simply too sensitive.

The Healer: A Nurse's Journey

Commencing from the halls of academia, my initial aspiration was to become a nurse. However, personal struggles with science courses and the required discipline deterred me from pursuing that path. Instead, I turned to literature and teaching, believing in the healing power of stories. Teaching becomes my primary means of helping others and offering comfort. It is through this lens that I grasp the importance of healing, both on the individual and societal level.

To me, healing another person is the highest good. Healing means living in the present moment. It deals with who we are as a living body that succumbs to fragility. Before we can heal the world, we have to know how to heal ourselves as well as others. It is the biggest stepping stone for helping people understand how much we need each other.

The Yellow Ajah: A Final Aspiration

After considering all the Ajahs, my ultimate aspiration aligns with the Yellow Ajah. They embody a balance between scholarly pursuits and humanitarian principles, making them an ideal fit for those who strive to understand and help the world. If the Yellow Ajah find that I lack the ability to fully contribute, I would be content to join the Brown Ajah, where I can find solace in the world of knowledge and endless books.

I would hope that my latent healing skills would be put to good use. That is why I would aspire to be in the Yellow Ajah. If they decided that I lacked the ability, then I would go with the Brown. I am sure there is a place for my love of books and my desire to help others.

Conclusion

The choice of Ajah in the Wheel of Time series is a journey of self-discovery, reflecting one's values, strengths, and aspirations. Whether you align with the intellect of the Brown Ajah, the dynamic balance of the Yellow Ajah, the justice-seeking nature of the Blue Ajah, or the fierce spirit of the Green Ajah, each Ajah offers a unique path to understanding and changing the world.
