At the age of 41, I embarked on a journey to learn Spanish while balancing a full-time job. When you don't have access to such resources, buying the original albums with lyrics included can be a valuable investment.

At this stage, you don't need to worry about understanding every word. Instead, focus on the phonics or how the words sound. Repeated listening is key to remembering the lyrics and the meanings behind them.

Step 2: Transcribing Lyrics

Next, shut off the music and transcribe the lyrics on lined paper, leaving space between each line. Then, using online dictionaries, translate these lyrics into English and write them on the same paper. This step helps you transition from relying on English to reading in the target language. It's a gradual process, so be patient and persistent.

Step 3: Understanding the Lyrics

Once you have the transcribed lyrics, play the music again and listen for comprehension. Understand the meaning of the words and how they fit into the context of the song. This step reinforces your understanding and helps you internalize the language.
