Reading Journeys: From Thrilling Tales to Immersive Language Learning
About This Article
This article explores my recent reading experiences, ranging from thrilling novels to insightful language learning journeys. I share my thoughts on various books, providing valuable insights and recommendations for fellow readers and aspiring startups.
Recent Reads and Impressions
Recently, I completed the book "Layla," and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Initially, the storyline was a bit confusing, but I found it to be a masterpiece. It captivated me with its evolving plot and rich narrative.
I am currently delving into "The Tata Saga," which has been quite compelling. Here are some excerpts from the book that have caught my attention:
Taj Hotels
J.R.D. Tata and Tata Airlines
About Jamsetji Tata
These excerpts just scratch the surface of an expansive tale that is carefully chronicling the history and successes of the Tata Group. The book is a must-read for those interested in the aviation and business world.
Real Tale of the Hijack 1981
Another book that I recently finished, "A Real Tale of the Hijack 1981," is a unique account by Umesh Saxena, the captain of the Air India flight involved in the hijack. This book provides an unusual perspective on the hijack that did not start as one and involved the highest number of hijackers. It also narrates the operation and subsequent trial in Seychelles in an interesting manner.
The hijack followed a failed coup-d'état by hired mercenaries in Seychelles. The scheduled Air India flight landed there at that fateful time, leading to a mess after the hijacking. It was then forced to fly to South Africa, and the aftermath is narrated in an engaging way. This book appeals to aviation enthusiasts and those interested in significant historical events.
Language Immersion: 25 Years of Reading Jorge Luis Borges
For the past 25 years, I have been immersing myself in the works of Jorge Luis Borges in his original language—Argentinian Spanish. My initial struggles with the language, working with dictionaries and online translators, have given way to a deeper understanding of the Argentinian culture and worldview. Reading Borges has been both rewarding and enriching, as his writings offer a unique perspective on the world.
As a language learner, this immersion into Argentinian Spanish has been transformative. It has opened a new continent of understanding, one that is richly different from English and German, and further explores the diverse cultural landscape of the Americas.
Current Read: LINGER- When You Gone
Currently, I am reading "LINGER- When You Gone" by Chitra Padmana. This is a thrilling and well-crafted book that I thoroughly recommend. The narrative is masterfully written, making it a compelling read for anyone looking for a thrilling story.
Startup Advice: Rework
Lastly, I recently picked up "Rework" by David Heinemeier Hansson and Jason Fried. This book offers invaluable insights for those in the early stages of a startup. It provides practical advice on how to effectively lead a team and navigate the challenges of building a successful business.
If you're an aspiring entrepreneur or looking for a fresh perspective on leadership and business, this book is a must-read.
