Is It Worth Writing a Book on Career Advice if You're 24?

There is really nothing to be lost in giving writing a go. As a career, it requires a lot of perseverance and patience, coupled with the ability to accept rejection, which happens to all of us. However, the beautiful thing about writing is that you can do it at any age. If you find yourself constantly thinking about a story idea that you cannot get out of your head, you should seriously consider turning it into a story. Writing can be a powerful tool to express your thoughts and ideas.

Blogging and Sharing Your Ideas

While not necessarily a book, it is a very good idea to share your ideas. Blogging or answering questions can be incredibly beneficial. The value of your perspectives lies in the fact that the world changes. When I talk about my experiences job hunting, those experiences were for a world that no longer exists. I can discuss what job hunting was like for me when I was 24; however, that information may or may not be useful anymore. Being in my 40s, I am curious about what it is like being 24 right now and looking for a job.

Advocating for Your Perspective

It is easier to give advice to people than it is to follow it themselves. If you genuinely believe that what you have to share can be helpful to someone and is not readily available, i.e., you have unique words and opinions on the topic that you would like to share, and if you think that would make an overall good book, then by all means, do it. P Optional of this, most people would not mind getting a book that contains helpful information even if it was written by someone who did not live everything they describe. They might not be your first choice when it comes to giving advice, but if the book itself is quality material, it can still be a valuable resource. If you think it would be a good experience for yourself and that it would be a good read for other people, then go for it. That's really all there is when it comes to writing a book.

The Publishing Aspect

The publishing part is a whole different deal. However, if you have a good enough idea, it is common sense that someone out there might be looking for the exact same advice that you are writing. If you decide to go ahead and write a book on career advice, make sure the content is well-researched, relevant, and actionable. Keep your audience in mind and ensure that your advice is practical and relatable.

Writing a book can be a fulfilling journey, not just for the author but also for the readers who find value in the advice and insights shared. Whether you are 24 or in your 40s, your unique perspective can offer something new and valuable to the career advice landscape.
