Why We Express Our Love for God: A Closer Look at Responses and Appreciation

Expressing love to fictional characters is nothing new. Millions of children express their love for Santa Claus in order to receive rewards from their parents and others. Similarly, adults might still want to receive rewards from others who are willing to pretend. However, when it comes to our relationship with a divine being called God, the situation is quite different.

Understanding Free Will and Belief

Whether you believe in God or not, you have free will. You do not have to believe, nor do you have to accept something as the truth or feel compelled to believe. To truly answer the question, you do not have to do anything to show love, believe, or know certain things. The decision is yours.

The real question to consider is why we do things to express our love for God. The essence of our relationship with God is rooted in gratitude and appreciation for His love and sacrifice, rather than a sense of obligation to prove ourselves.

The Love of God: A Gift and a Response

God's love for us is a gift, shown even before we had the ability to do anything for Him. He loved us while we were still sinners, and gave His Son, Jesus, to save us. Whatever we do for God now, it is in response to and appreciation for what He has done for us. There is nothing we can do that will truly please God except having faith in Him.

God's Needs and Existence

It is important to consider that God does not have a pathological need for adulation, like certain human figures such as Trump or Hitler. Alternatively, if God does not exist, He was created by humans in the image of a Bronze Age Middle Eastern tyrant. However, the essence of the relationship remains the same: God wants to love us and invites us to let Him into our lives.

Expressing Love and Gratitude

Just like a mother loving her child without expecting anything in return, God's love is unconditional. Your job is simply to accept His love and express gratitude for it. This can be shown through small actions in daily life that reflect your appreciation for His gifts. This is not a matter of having to do anything; rather, it is a matter of allowing God's work to be done through your actions and attitudes.

Gratitude and love are fundamental aspects of our relationship with God. We are grateful for everything He has created, including the earth, plants, animals, and ourselves. Every opportunity to learn and enjoy life is a gift. Thinking about what we have and acknowledging that it all belongs to God is a way to express our love and gratitude for Him.

By living a life filled with gratitude and love, we allow God's work to be done through us. We do not have to do anything beyond trusting in Him, for He is the one truly doing the work. Our role is to embrace His love and show it in the ways we live and love.

In conclusion, the act of expressing love for God is not about proving ourselves or meeting external expectations. It is about living a life of gratitude and appreciation, responding to the love and gifts He has given us. This relationship is one of mutual love and respect, and it is a beautiful journey for all those who choose to walk it.
