Understanding Time and Its Power

"Can it be true that one day you will wake up and there will be no more time to do the things you have always dreamed of doing them now? " This age-old question resounds in the hearts of many, especially those who have delayed their dreams due to sheer complacency or plain ignorance. In truth, time is a relentless force. It does not wait for us, and it can creep up on us without us realizing just how much we have squandered.

Every day that passes is a reminder that time is more powerful than we think. It can age us in ways that leave us bedridden, unable to move or even leave the house. This is not an exaggeration. If you give time enough, it can take just a moment for someone to make a stupid decision that could immobilize you for life—whether that be through an accident or health issues.

Personal Reflection and Responsibility

What is often overlooked is that it also depends on how we take care of ourselves. If we refuse to prioritize health and well-being, spending that time instead on other distractions, we might wake up to find ourselves in a much worse condition than we ever imagined. At 90, or even younger, in the poorest of health, the blame ultimately lies with ourselves. We are the ones who let that time pass.

Chasing Your Dreams: What You Want, Not What Others Expect

When it comes to realizing your dreams, the first step is to clearly define what it is you want and own that desire. It is important to know what you truly want, rather than allowing someone else's expectations to dictate your life. Once you have a clear idea of your desires, learn the know-how to achieve them. Commit to pursuing your dreams with full commitment and nothing should stand in your way, including external influences like friends, family, or partners.

The next step is to act on your goals. Make decisions and take actions that align with your dreams. Remember, it is ultimately up to you. There is a saying, 'the future is to follow the plan that is not to be followed,' meaning you must be prepared to face challenges and obstacles. While there are no guarantees, you must make the best use of the time you have.

Start Early: The Benefits of Youth

Many find it easier to achieve their dreams during their 20s and 30s, but it is never too late to start. I, for example, am 29 and soon to turn 30. As I reach my 40s, it becomes more challenging to accomplish those dreams, not because it's impossible, but because the window of opportunity starts to close.

It is a common misconception that age brings a lack of mobility and lesser mobility. In actuality, as I have experienced, age does come with its benefits, such as the ability to enjoy the fruits of your labor and the confidence that comes with years of experience. No longer do I need to jump from a plane or walk on icebergs, as I have already lived those dreams. I have even had the privilege to live in interesting places and meet incredible people.

Embracing Life and Letting Go of Perfection

Embracing life is not about achieving perfection, but about living a life worth living. If you find that life is still not as fulfilling as you would like, it is okay to make more out of each moment. With age comes a certain grace and perspective that can lead to a more fulfilling life. As the saying goes, 'a nice thing about age is that you don't have to do something if you don't want to.' Be mindful and take pleasure in the small things that bring joy to your life.

Lastly, there are some moments in life that will be beyond your control, as I have experienced when someone died without me being there to say goodbye. But that is a part of life, and it is better to live a life with regrets than one filled with regret.
