The Reading List: Next Steps on My Journey to Self-Improvement

As a JEE aspirant, I find myself constantly juggling between studying and personal growth. My reading list is a testament to both the dedication I have towards academic excellence and my journey towards self-improvement. Here's what's next on my reading deck.

Self-Improvement with Ronda Byrne's The Secret

Let's start with The Secret by Ronda Byrne. I own this book and carry it in my bag every day, yet somehow, I haven't had the time to read it. It’s high time that changes. My plan is to finish it before October. This book speaks volumes about the power of the subconscious mind and the Law of Attraction, which are crucial in my mindset as I prepare for my exams.

Exploring Creative Travel with To India with Love: from New York to Mumbai

Next on my list is To India with Love: from New York to Mumbai by Waris Ahluwalia. This memoir provides a unique perspective on travel as a creative journey. As a book lover and aspiring writer, I am eager to explore the cultural and personal insights this book will offer. It promises to be an enriching read that will inspire me to further document my own travel experiences.

Financial Wisdom with Rich Dad, Poor Dad

Financial literacy is key, and Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter is a classic in that domain. I will follow up with motivation and holistic improvement with Anne Bogel's Don't Overthink It and Daniel Kahneman's Thinking Fast and Slow.

Memory and Learning Skills

To enhance my learning skills, I plan to read Unlimited Memory by Kevin Horsley and Limitless by Jim Kwik. These books will help me sharpen my memory and improve my cognitive abilities, essential for effective studying. Remembering key concepts and managing test-related anxiety are crucial for my success.

Discipline and Self-Control

Shifting towards the importance of self-discipline, I will tackle Brian Tracy's No Excuses! The Power of Self-Discipline. This book emphasizes the critical role personal accountability plays in achieving goals, especially as a student preparing for the JEE.

Understanding History and Culture

For a change, I am looking forward to literature that delves into history and culture. R. K. Narayan's My Dateless Diary and Hannah Arendt's The Origins of Totalitarianism are on the horizon. Narayan's travelogue to the U. S. is a must-read for any fan of his novels and stories, while Arendt's work offers a profound understanding of political and social structures.

While reading these books, I am also eager to delve into the Harry Potter series and a smattering of other books I've been meaning to read for quite some time. These include Khaled Hosseini's A Thousand Splendid Suns, John Gray's Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus, Jeff Keller's Attitude Is Everything, Malala Yousafzai's I Am Malala, and Amish Tripathi's The Shiva Trilogy.

Conclusion

My reading journey is as much about personal growth as it is about academic preparation. Each book on my list aims to provide insights, inspiration, and practical knowledge to help me succeed both academically and personally. As I step through this journey, I am determined to make the most of every page I turn.
