Even with such a supportive background, life hasn't always been easy. Since 2015, my family has been struggling with different forms of abuse. My parents, particularly my father and brother, were abusive and would often force us to sleep by closing the lights. My daughter would often come to me, saying, “Mama, can I stop now going to college?” The reason: she couldn't do her homework due to the constant interruptions from my brother and father.

I replied, "Me too." But I chose to ignore their behavior and continued with my homework and college classes. I told her, "But I ignored them. Ignored what they’re doing. Just proceed on doing your homework and continue your college classes. Until then, all your sacrifices will be paid off."

My son was also treated like a slave. At the age of 12, he was asked to cook noodles for my brother, who was 33 at the time. I witnessed this and immediately complained against such treatment at such a young age. I challenged their practice of making us slaves and stood up for my family's rights and freedoms.

Over time, my efforts paid off. I've won the battle against the abuse, and my family is no longer slaves to anyone. We now stand on our own, making our own choices and decisions.
