Exploring the Boundless Universe of Poetry: A Seer's Journey
Every individual has a different journey through the realms of poetry. For me, the joy of poetry lies in its boundless variety, allowing me to explore and connect with various poetic expressions that resonate with me on a profound level. Whether it's the evocative imagery of romantic verses, thought-provoking and philosophical verses, or the structured patterns of traditional forms and the freedom of contemporary free verse, each style holds its own charm.
In the latest TP series, we encountered a verse that captures the essence of poetry: This is the water and this is the well. Drink full and descend. The horse is the white of the eyes and dark within. This poem, with its deep symbolism and layered meaning, reminds us of the rich tapestry that poetry weaves.
Accessible and Emotional Poetry
Though I enjoy a diversity of poetry, there is one common thread that I attempt to weave into my work: accessibility. Poets like Mary Oliver, Langston Hughes, and Billy Collins have mastered the art of making their poetry relatable and emotionally engaging. They evoke a sense of understanding that resonates with most readers. My aim is to create poetry that evokes some emotion that is easily understood by most readers, based on observations from everyday life.
While I don't have a favorite kind of poetry, what truly speaks to me is poetry that comes from the heart. Poetry that touches the heart and makes one a better person. When I write, I strive to capture the essence of my experiences and share them with the world in a way that is both genuine and relatable. The kind of poetry that reminds us of the simple yet profound emotions in our lives, the beauty we see in everyday moments, and the love that guides our paths.
My Poetry and Themes
My poetry often revolves around themes of love, separation, and personal reflection. A particular theme that resonates deeply with me is romantic poetry, with a focus on love and longing. A personal favorite of mine is a poem that captures the essence of true love:
tTwinkling stars at night
tmake me realize...
tyou are the one I love.
twith you, I want to spend my whole life.
tyeah, you're special and you're mine.
tyou're my first love, I realize.
This poem, written by Gunjan Mittal, speaks to the pure and unadulterated nature of love. It’s a reminder that love is a profound and universal experience, one that touches our hearts and fills us with deep emotions. Writing and reading poetry, especially romantic poems, allows me to explore the depths of human emotions and connect with others on a profound level.
Unconventional Themes in Poetry
While romantic poetry is a significant part of my poetic expression, I also explore unconventional themes such as mythology and current societal issues. These topics allow me to delve into the complexities of human experience and societal dynamics. The power of poetry lies in its ability to transcend time and space, connecting us to the human condition across generations and cultures.
Whether I am writing about the timeless themes of love and separation, or delving into the complexities of contemporary issues, my goal is to write poetry that is well-crafted and resonant. What 'well-crafted' means to me is the careful construction of words, the emotional depth of the content, and the ability to evoke a response in the reader. A poem that captures the essence of a moment, a feeling, or a truth, allowing readers to reflect and connect on a personal level.
Thanks to the numerous readers and fellow poets who share their insights and experiences. Your writings have inspired me to continue exploring the vast universe of poetry and to share my thoughts and emotions through the medium of words.
